Gender Bias

Gender Bias

Gender bias is apparent at times in certain family structures or certain cultures. Some cultures favor males and give them privileges. Some favor females and give them more favor. Other cultures give males and females equal favor. They have put laws in place to insure that there are now gender bias issues to contend with. However, even in these societies, it is not always truly equal in the eyes of the people. There are still some unspoken rifts between the two genders.

So what do you do if you encounter a situation where there is a clear gender bias? Well your first step is to see if the law protects you. If you live in a society where the bias is acceptable there is not much you can do to fix it. All you can really do is learn to adapt to it. This is something that could be hard, especially if you are accustomed to one culture's ways and then are forced to move to another culture. For example, most people in the Western countries enjoy equal rights for men and women. But there are still societies that do not. If you live in a society where the men and women are equal and then move to one where they are not, it could take some getting used to. It is important to study the culture you are moving to so you do not offend anyone in the process.

When you are considering a culture, determine if there are any gender bias issues or not. But there is also one other thing to consider. Even if a country has equal rights, that does not mean that everyone abides them. Certain companies could favor men over women or vice versa, for example, even if it is illegal. These are all things to be careful of. If you are a victim of this kind of discrimination your best bet is to get a lawyer and try to dispute the system as best as you can. If possible, get a lawyer who specializes in gender bias situations.

However as time passes, the gender bias situations in our culture are getting less and less. The laws protect our rights. In the meantime, people need to learn how to fight for their rights and also follow the rules and laws.

Today's Tip On Gender Identity

How do relationships correspond to a gender role or gender identity?

Though there is a growing acceptance of same sex relationships there is still the prevalent thought that a gender should prefer someone of the opposite sex. Relationships are born from this yearning and need. But in a person with gender dysphoria it does not work the same way. They feel attracted to the same sex or the opposite sex but genuinely believe that they should have been born a different gender. Their relationships begin to revolve around this gender identity crisis.
