Gender

Gender is one of those things that may seem pretty straightforward. You either have a male or a female. However, there are some instances where the gender lines are blurred. What do you call a man who looks like a woman or a woman who looks like a man? Sometimes, people just have very feminine or very masculine features. Other times, however, there is some gender confusion as is the case with hermaphrodites. So even though gender is something that is typically very straightforward there are things that could cause some amount of gender confusion.

But there are certain things pertaining to gender that have nothing to do with which body parts a person has. There are certain ways that a person needs to behave that society labels as either masculine or feminine. This is not something that usually has anything to do with the gender itself but with society's idea of what the gender should entail. There are women who enjoy sports and working on their cars but that is typically looked at as something that men enjoy. And there are men who cry and get emotional and even enjoy doing things that are considered feminine such as shop. But society has certain divisions that people tend to stick to whether it is intentionally or subconsciously.

One thing that people need to be careful of is that there really is no need for a lot of these things to occur in today's society. There are certain gender differences that are inescapable such as the fact that females are the ones that give birth. But there are other things that have to do with the society. If you assume certain things about a person just because this is what society says a female or a male should do or how they should act, then this could get you into some trouble. There is no need to have those kinds of prejudices.

When it comes to gender, there are physical things that determine whether someone is a male or female. But, there are also things that have nothing to do with gender physically but have more to do with society. Make sure that you treat everyone equally otherwise you could get into trouble.

Today's Tip On Gender Identity

How do relationships correspond to a gender role or gender identity?

Though there is a growing acceptance of same sex relationships there is still the prevalent thought that a gender should prefer someone of the opposite sex. Relationships are born from this yearning and need. But in a person with gender dysphoria it does not work the same way. They feel attracted to the same sex or the opposite sex but genuinely believe that they should have been born a different gender. Their relationships begin to revolve around this gender identity crisis.
